Maletis Beverage and Odom Corporation Announce Joint Venture

(Portland, OR) Beverage distribution companies The Odom Corporation (Bellevue, WA) and Maletis Beverage (Portland, OR) have formed a joint venture called Odom-Maletis Beverage to enable combined expansion of beverage distribution services for suppliers and retailers. Their initial push will be into the Mid-Valley, Central and Southern Oregon areas currently not covered by either distributor.  

              Maletis Beverage is headquartered in Portland and employs over 200 people selling beer and non-alcoholic products throughout the greater Portland-Salem markets and Southwest Washington.  The Odom Corporation currently distributes beer, wine, and non-alcoholic products in the three states – Alaska, Washington and Northern Idaho. Odom will also open a new wine distribution facility in the Portland area that Maletis will support. 

The new company created through the partnership will operate distribution facilities in Eugene, Bend and Medford.

              Principals from the two companies cite the current business climate as the impetus for their partnership. In the wave of several industry mergers, Northwest beverage suppliers and retailers now have few choices among distributor partners.  Combined The Odom Corporation, Maletis Beverage, and the newly formed Odom-Maletis Beverage will provide service to over 20,000 retailers in the four state regions of Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

              According to Rob Maletis, President and CEO of Maletis Beverage, today’s retailers and beverage suppliers want distributors to cover entire states not just cities and towns like past years.

In each market Odom-Maletis Beverage will hire salespeople, delivery drivers and merchandisers.  Operating as an independent unit, Odom-Maletis Beverage will have its own general manager with oversight provided by the management from the two companies.
