They say an enterprise is shaped by the personality of its founders. Never more true to that is the story of Beck’s. In the year 1873, Bremen, Germany was a busy, thriving, happening city. And it attracted ambitious, confident businessmen like Luder Rutenberg, Heinrich Beck and Thomas May.

Rutenberg was a successful builder who could have led a life of idle wealth, but chose a different path into unfamiliar territory – brewing beer. But Rutenberg was not a fool. He hired the best brewer he knew of – Heinrich Beck – to help guarantee success. He also brought in businessman Thomas May to keep things in order.

Together, they had a vision for creating exceptional beer only from the finest ingredients. Their recipe hasn’t changed a bit. To this day, Beck’s is still made with the same unique blend of barley, hops, yeast and water.
