Bass
The story of Bass begins in 1777 when William Bass opened the first brewery in Burton-on-Trent, England. Since then, this famous brew has inspired famous firsts, venerable showman, dictators and explorers, writers and cutting edge engineers.

A famous first was the red triangle. In 1876, Bass Pale Ale’s famous & iconic red triangle becomes England’s first registered trademark. Soon after, the beer so inspired Napoleon Bonaparte that he sought to build a Bass brewery in France. It was also said that Edgar Allan Poe recharged his terror-filled writing with a Bass every night.

Over in America, Buffalo Bill Cody entertained hunting expeditions with tails of his army life, prospecting and showmanship while they dined under the stars and enjoyed the beer they were accustomed to, Bass.

Probably, the most interesting story is of Ernest Shackleton, the first man to reach the South Pole, who brought along Bass Pale Ale to either toast or memorialize his amazing accomplishment.
