Widmer Brothers Brewing Company brews unique and authentic European and American style beers.  After living in Germany and enjoying fine European beers in the 1970s, Kurt Widmer returned to Portland, Oregon, with a mission to create American interpretations of the authentic European beer styles. His search for an original beer experience led Kurt back to a brewery in Dussseldorf, where he studied recipes of the famous brewing center. The Widmer Brothers' special brewing yeast was obtained from the world-renowned Brewing Research Institute in Bavaria. This special yeast has been maintained at Widmer's brewery for over 19 years and is an important part of the Widmer Brothers' brewing process.
